APPOINTMENTS FAQ
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Azure Physiotherapy operate a 24-hour cancellation policy. For cancellations made with less than 24-hours notice, or for failing to attend your appointment, you may be charged the full appointment price.
We aim to operate a prompt appointment schedule. Therefore please arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment time, which can help if any paperwork needs to be completed prior to seeing your physiotherapist. A late arrival may mean your appointment time is reduced but you may still have to pay the full cost.
Payment is required following completion of each treatment session, unless there is direct settlement with your insurance company. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or card. You can also block book a number of session for a discounted rate, with prior arrangement.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL? Referrals are accepted from GP’s, consultants and other health professionals. You can also self-refer without seeing a doctor – just call and book in.
CAN I CLAIM ON MY INSURANCE? Azure Physiotherapy is registered with major health insurance companies. However please check with us before commencing treatment, to avoid any payment of excess by yourselves. Please also check your policy covers physiotherapy treatment and any total amount restrictions.
HOW LONG ARE THE PHYSIOTHERAPY APPOINTMENTS? Appointments are 30 minutes long. Double appointments are available and are ideal if you present with numerous problems.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT MY FIRST SESSION? At your initial assessment we will listen to the history of your problem and any specific goals you have. We will also discuss any issues regarding work, lifestyle and medical history which may impact on your complaint. We will then carry out an examination – the physiotherapist may ask you to remove items of clothing so we can clearly see the area. We will never ask to remove underwear. You may wish to dress appropriately and bring shorts for example, if we are looking at a lower limb problem. Following the examination, we will discuss your presentation and diagnosis and treatment plan.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED? Every patient and condition is different and it is therefore difficult to state exactly how many sessions you will need. However physiotherapy is often not a quick fix, but rather the start of the road to recovery and 2-3 sessions is common, alongside your home exercises. Your progress is closely monitored however so if, for some reason, you are not progressing as anticipated, we will not continue treatment but rather point you in the most appropriate direction. In contrast, some patients attend fairly regularly for “maintenance” treatment to prevent niggles becoming more prevalent, and therefore only a single session may be required.
DO YOU HAVE PARKING AT THE PRACTICE? Yes there is free parking within the Adams Practice surgery car park.
